We seem to have almost every franchise possible. From Appiebee's to White Castle with stops along the way at Burger King, Long John Silver, Pizza Hut, etc, etc, etc. Most small mid-western communities have franchise food. It may be only a "gas station" but will have food. A Big Mac is a Big Mac no matter which McDonald's you visit. Franchise food is predicable, convenient and for the most part boring. When was the last time you had a sit down meal in a non franchise restaurant?Saturday, June 28, 2008

Just Saturday night we ate at the bar we went to see a band at... best mushroom and swiss burger I have ever had!
Our favorite place to eat in Des Moines is locally owned by a husband and wife. I try to get my husband to eat at the less predictable places all the time. 'Tis the spice of life!
