Back Home in Indiana: Alive and Active

Columbia City, Indiana. Previous two post have shown a converted (community center) church and a closed (for sale) church. Here is an example of a large active church. Wonder why it is that some are alive and others are not. (click on image to enlarge)

Back Home in Indiana: For Sale

Columbia City, Indiana. Previous post illustrated a former church now converted into a community center. This church building is empty and up for sale. How does a church become unused and not wanted? Did the members leave for other church locations? Did the members grow too old and/or die? Perhaps younger members went elsewhere - different communities or different churches. These are hard times for not only individuals but for their religious communities. (click on image to enlarge)

Back Home in Indiana: Stone Stairway

Lewisville, Indiana. As with previous post, this community is along the Old National Road - US Route 40. At one time there must have been a rather good stone/brick craftsman in the area. Several building/churches give evidence of a highly skilled worker. (click on image to enlarge)
