Studs is Dead

Studs Terkel died today at the age of 95. Details can be found http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-studs-terkel-dead,0,2321576.story
and/or
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/01/books/01terkel.html?hp
There were many branch's and directions in his life. Music, radio, television, writing and a collector of the ordinary/common/everyday folk and their stories. Above all he heard. He heard the meaning, the importance and the significance of individuals lives. I grew up listening to Studs on radio. Continued learning reading his books. Studs Terkel's book - Working - has not only made a deep impression on my life, it has influenced what and how I make/take photographs. As with Studs Terkel, I am not interested in the stars, rather I am concerned with the people that live and work within my environment. Studs Terkel is dead, but I am thankful that he lived.

Back in Time

Today's weather- Rain/Snow Showers with temperatures in the 30's. A fine opportunity to visit an earlier time when the sunny warm days were the rule.

Old Friend Revisited

Over the years I have often photographed this tree and its exposed roots. A true survivor that just keeps growing.

Chimayo is a very special place. People from all over the world arrive believing in the power of magic soil to cure. Many leave hand made crosses as a testment to their faith.

That Time of the Year

Managed a short walk in the Hayes Arboretum. Looking to find a few old friends. Sadly, many of the trees that I have photographed over years have fallen and decayed. Will soon return again to make a few new friends among those that are alive and standing.
