I love your pictures, but they all look like ghost towns. Is that deliberate on your part, or are these towns really that deserted? I deliberately put quite a bit of effort into taking pictures of airplanes, etc. with no bystanders in them - just curious if you're doing that too.

These are not ghost towns as you see in the West and Southwest. Rather, they are "real" towns populated with a few "real" people. What you see is the result of jobs, opportunites and business leaving the small local communities. With roads/automobiles-trucks folks are able to quickly travel to a larger location to work and to purchase goods and supplies. Also,there is the "Big Box" stores that seem to be everywhere-that's another story!

Thanks for the reply, although it's somewhat depressing.

We're at risk of losing a large part of the heterogeneity that defines our country as more and more of our communities and businesses are sacrificed to the altar of "price rollbacks" and suburbia.
